What are the best registry cleaners for Windows XP?

Speed up your computer by using a good registry cleaner.

Has your computer slowed to an absolute crawl? Have you recently discovered spyware, adware, or viruses on your computer. Every Windows operating system uses its registry to store information about programs and gives instructions on how your computer operates. You probably are looking for the best registry cleaner out there to clean the junk out of your PC trunk, if you know what I mean. In this articles I am going to cover what to look for when selecting the best registry cleaner for you.

The first thing you need to make sure when selecting your registry cleaner is that the software has a backup and restore feature. This is critical as your registry is the lifeblood of your Windows machine. If something goes wrong during the clean-up procedure you need to be able to roll back easily. Most of the best registry cleaners out there have this functionality built in. Beware of any tools that clean your registry but do not prompt you to backup first. This is a bad sign.

The second trait of a great registry cleaning utility is that it has a reliable database for tracking known good programs, file types, and dll’s. Programs such as RegCure do this very well and speed up the process in eliminating conflicts on your PC.

When you are selecting a registry cleaner to purchase, you need to make sure the software does the following at a bare minimum:

·         Scans for invalid programs and shortcuts

·         Allows for the registry to be defragmented

·         Checks for invalid paths

·         Has a scheduling feature to clean your registry

·         Checks for dll’s that are missing. In both Windows XP and Vista

·         Checks for missing or invalid fonts

·         Checks for missing device drivers or drivers that are no longer useful

·         Repairs corrupt files

·         Repair, Tuning, and Diagnostic facilities

Most of the main programs on the market out there have these features built in. In my experience, the best are RegCure, Registry Fix, and Error Nuker. I have tested these over time and they all do a great job. As a best practice, you will also want to have a good Spyware and Adware program in addition to your registry cleaner to make sure your PC is always running in top shape. These two habits well insure that your PC is fully optimized to be productive at all times.

Last but not least, a great practice is to defragment your hard drive frequently. If you can, try to do this at least once a month after you clean your registry. This process makes sure that your file system is highly optimized and your computer can retrieve data quickly when it needs it.

Use these practicesScience Articles, and I can guarantee you your PC will run better than ever.
