Why a Drive Image Is So Important

Most people who use drive image software do so because they have a number of applications on their computer that have been specifically designed for their particular use. In other words, they are not the kind of people who use the application right out of the box. When you have your computer set up “your way,” with everything just how you want it, then having a drive image rather than a straight backup is essential.

When you install this type of software, you will need to ensure that you are backing up your information preferably to an outside location (not in the same building where your computer is located). This will help to protect you in case the reason you lose your data is because of fire, flood, theft, or some type of electrical problem. By keeping your backup separately, none of these things will be able to affect it.

Also, you will need to decide just how often you want to back up your information. Modern-day backup and drive image programs do not tie up use of your computer for hours on end, so you can feel free to back up more often than you might have in the past. Generally, you should back up as often as you can, because the longer you wait between backups, the less quality, recent data you will have to work with, but thankfully this is an easy process.
