Dating is a lot of fun, but it can get really expensive if you aren’t careful. For those that are actively seeking a relationship, going on lots of dates trying to find the right person can put some serious strain on your wallet. Here are 3 tips to help you stay on a budget and still look for the person of your dreams:

 

1.  Make it yourself- One of the best ways to save money on a date is to make dinner yourself. Heading to a restaurant can leave your pockets feeling pretty empty. Once you factor in the money in gas to get to your restaurant, the food itself, and any tax and tip you could be out several dollars. Instead try making your own dinner with your date. This may not be the best first date idea, because you want to make sure that you are making something that your date will like, but for a second date it is a fantastic idea. Go pick up your date and bring them back to your house so that you can work together to make dinner together. This will give you plenty of opportunity to talk and develop your friendship/relationship and also see what kind of a team you make in the kitchen.

2.  Look for Groupons- When you have to do something unusual and fun for your date but you don’t want to break the bank, one of the best places to turn is Groupon. By searching Groupon you can find a really amazing deal that could make your exciting date a possibility. There is no reason why you should ever have to go over budget with Groupon around. Be patient in your search as there may not always be a special available that appeal to you.

3.  Think coffee or beverage- If you want to get out with your date and spend some time in public then consider meeting up at a coffee shop. You can grab a great drink and sit and enjoy the wonderful sounds and smells that make up coffee shop atmosphere.  One of the most important parts of dating is getting to know the person you are with and sitting down and enjoying some conversation is a great way to see how compatible you are. Instead of going on an expensive adventure date keep it simple and see how well your personalities mesh. If you get along well it won’t matter how much money you spend, because your date will be impressed no matter what. If you don’t get along then you won’t be out very much cash.
