Challenges to be a scam free dating site from past one decade

The growth in the internet has seen a tremendous rise in the area of online scam and running scam controls in free dating sites is hard work.

Scamming has been a universal problem for many years and with the internet usage on the rise many are unaware of this issue and can easily become a victim to these kind of scams. The problem is increasingly obvious in free dating sites where ‘love’ can be a big motivating factor to lure innocent singles into a web of lies and deceit simply to extort money. We have heard of numerous reports of real life incidents where victims usually women fall for a scam by a man who has manipulated the situation to his advantage. Some of these incidents can also result in sexual assaults but in most cases, the reasons are usually for monetary gains.

Free dating sites have a challenge in thwarting scammers since there is no way of monitoring users behavior off-site. To a certain extent the scam controls can be put into the site by the webmaster and the degree at which scammers are kept under control are dependant on those checks. The most important check to spot scammers is that they duplicate their emails to everyone they send it to and usually it is with the same recurring message. Free dating sites are especially vulnerable to scammers since there is no payment required upfront to send messages to other members of the site.

Another aspect of controlling scammers is to do routine IP checks of all users and locate their source since scammers usually originate from specific regions or countries. However, this can also be overridden by using IP proximity checks by smart users and can easily bypass any of these IP checks. The simplest form of checks is to bring awareness to the users of the free dating site and alert them to the different types of scammers on the site. In addition, by providing tools for the members of the site to report on potential scammers can also help maintain some level of control. Some websites also check messages for common words that are most often used by users to detect potential scammers.

Policing the site for scammers on free dating sites can be a challenging task for the website owner but there are various software methods available to detect them. However, almost always some manual intervention is required to keep scammers at bay. Many scammers also use the same photograph again and again and only manual checks of these will enable any types of capture. Some websites go as far to ban entire countries where scammers originate from and this is again done through IP checks. Unfortunately, this has the disadvantage of ruling out genuine users from those countries.

Today scammers are rife on the internet and use every conceivable angle to prey on victims for laundering money. Many originate from countries outside of USA and websites such as free dating sites are especially vulnerable to these kind of scammers. Although many software as well as manual checks are done on many of these dating sites, many still find ways to bypass them and target innocent victims. What is also required is a general awareness to the members of the site to spot these kind of scammers. Unfortunately, in the case of love and relationshipsArticle Search, the heart can have an overpowering effect on us and scammers try to take full advantage of this.
