When it comes to first date conversation, First Date Conversations for Lesbians Articles I like to employ the same tactic I did for middle school phone calls: Write a list of viable topics to talk about, cross off each topic once you’ve covered it, and keep the verbal diarrhea flowing.

Obviously, for the sake of embarrassment, you don’t have to physically write down the topics on a note card or the palm of your hand — a mental list will do.

So what are some great first date conversation topics for lesbians? Let’s take a look.

1. Start with something you’re familiar with.

By now you know a few things about her, so bring them up!

Did you meet on an online dating site? Discuss if she has tried any other ones beforehand and her opinions on dating in general.

Are you both in school? Chat about your future career interests.

1.    Air on the side of safety.

This means no talking about politics or religion unless you met at church or a candidate’s rally. You’d be amazed at how many Democrats are married to Republicans or Christians are married to Jews.

Don’t discount someone because they don’t fit into the neat little box you’ve created in your mind.

2.    Music, literature, travel, film, sports, etc.

Talk about pretty much anything in one of these categories and as long as you’re on a date with a woman who has an ounce of personality, your conversation should last at least a good 20 minutes.

3.    Hobbies or what you do outside of work.

It’s important to let a potential girlfriend know that you are passionate about things. This can be a hobby, charity or a series of events like going to concerts.

But while it’s important to start the conversation, don’t forget to give her a chance to talk, too.

4.    When in doubt, talk about the random or absurd.

If you run out of topics, then have a few aces up your sleeve.

Ask her random questions like: “If you had more time, what hobby would you like to pursue?” or “If you could change one thing about your personality, what would it be?”

Coming up with conversation on a first date can be nerve-racking. That’s why it’s important to be prepared. You wouldn’t take a test without studying or go to a job interview without first researching the company, would you?

Make a list of topics to help guide you through the first date jitters and you will be amazed at how little you even need to refer to it.
