The Google Books service,Google Expands into Canadian Market with Google Books Articles which became available in the United States in December of 2010, has been made available in Canada on November 1st according to press reports.Readers can find many books, including the latest romance novels on the Google Books site now.Books that are purchased can be viewed on practically any kind of device that has access to the internet, like a PC, smartphone or tablet. It is also possible to use an e-reader like the Kobo, the Nook or the Sony Reader. It is worth noting that the Amazon Kindle, which is one of the main competitors of the Google Book store, will not be compatible with the service, probably as a result of Amazon wanting to protect its brand from competition and make users of the Kindle buy their electronic books from their Amazon Kindle Store. What is unique about Google Books is the way that the books are read.Rather than offering the books for download directly to a device, Google Books stores the purchase on its cloud servers. Therefore, someone who has purchased a book through their service adds it to their virtual library, where they can access it from any internet enabled device.Readers of Romance Books Online, for example, can start reading a book on their PC and then continue where they have left off on their iPhone when they are outside.Bu the goal of Google Books is not only to make some money for the search engine giant, but also to make reading and literature available to all.Books are priced at just a small fraction of what a regular paper book would cost.Furthermore, there are many public domain books that can be downloaded for free by users. This applies mainly to some older books whose copyrights have expired, but also there are some authors who have released their creations in the public domain in order to get some exposure for their work. This is common for self-published authors in specific literary genres like erotic eBooks.Whether Google Books will make a significant impact in the online book sales industry is yet to be determined, mainly due to the fact that this is a service that is still less than a few years old.The Amazon Kindle eBook store has enjoyed a lot of success, making millions of sales, so Google is probably aware that they are facing some stiff competition. There is also speculation that Google will be expanding Google Books to other countries as wellFree Reprint Articles, however details of this have not yet been released by the company for now.
