You won't get fired if you sleep in, but you still have to put in the time and work to get things done. There are many people who absolutely need the guaranteed pay that most jobs offer. The hourly or salary rate provides people with a sense of security and makes it that much easier to balance a budget if you know how much money you will be making week in and week out.
