How to study in Alberta?

Alberta is a great study destination for students. This study visa is required if you want to plan to study in Alberta for a period of a duration greater than 6 months.  You can work on a university campus without needing a work permit, during your studies if you have gained full-time admission in a post secondary institution which is public. This work permit is not required if you have a study permit that is valid.

 

A work permit is also not required if you are planning to work not on the university campus during your studies and if you have taken fulltime admission in a post secondary institution either private/public. The working hours are only limited to 20 in number during study sessions and more during breaks from university.

 

You are also eligible to work in Canada while studying if you have international experience and if your age is between 18-35 years. The country to which you belong must have signed an agreement with the Canadian nation. But this work experience is only limited to 1 year. The student also needs to prove that he has sufficient funds to cover the costs (tuition and living) while in Canada. A post-graduation work permit can also be gained if the length of your study course is at least 8 months. The length of the post graduation work permit for a student cannot be more than 3 years. So, even if you have done 4 years of post-graduation, you cannot get a post-graduation work permit of more than 3 years.
