Education can be open to all by enrolling with a distance learning school. There are thousands of courses that can be chosen from. Some will have professional and academic qualifications. Some are just for interest or enjoyment only. They can last from just a few weeks and have no written or practical assignments or exams or they can last for an entire year and have very formal assignments and end of year exams
Many distant learning programs with a final qualification are accredited and recognised by professional bodies and employers. A large career jump can be realised by studying from home. There is also the immense feeling of satisfaction of passing a course and having a certificate presented.
The beauty of learning from home is the flexibility that is offered. Learning is at the individuals own pace. A parent might decide that just a few hours study a week is all that he or she can manage. Someone who wants to further his career may study for in excess of twenty hours per week. A student intent on getting a degree in very quick time may take up distance learning as on a full time basis.
The latest distance learning courses tend to send all their learning materials out electronically. Of course media like CD's, DVD's and especially books are still very widely used.
Distance studying could not be easier. Enrol on a course of interest. Learning schedules will be sent, either electronically or by post. A tutor will be assigned to the student with his or her details. Studying begins.

Students from all over the world study with the Open University for many different qualifications, for example, diplomas, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts and Masters Degrees.
