For those who love to immerse themselves in the Christmas atmosphere,29th International Exhibition of Christmas Cribs in Art and Tradition in Verona Articles Verona in December is definitely the perfect destination. A magic city by its very nature, in December and in the weeks before and after Christmas Verona gains a surplus value, which is not only given by the lights and decorations that embellish the city and shop windows, which characterize any city at this time, but especially by the Christmas cribs exhibition that takes place every year in the venetian city. And we cannot leave out the big star, which has become the symbol of Christmas in Verona and of the exhibition, and which rises in Piazza Bra, in the city centre, at Christmas time, giving you the chance to immerse immediately in the Christmas atmosphere.

The International Exhibition of Christmas Cribs in Art and Tradition takes place every year at the Arena, bringing to the city cribs and dioramas coming from all over Italy and from all over the world and creating a real journey into the countries and cultures that carry on the tradition of cribs. The 2012 edition of the exhibition, the 29th, will be inaugurated on the 3rd of December and will end on the 20th of January 2013 (it will be open daily, also on public holidays, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.), offering a compendium of cribs in history and art to visitors, who are expected to be numberless as usual. The exhibition includes about 400 cribs coming from the main European museums and from private collections, and realized by crib makers and craftsmen. Here are some represented countries: Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, Croatia, Slovenia, Switzerland and Italy, of course. This will be a good chance to find out the similarities and differences of cribs in different countries and to understand how this ancient tradition can connect places that are far away from each other, although each country has its own peculiarities.

In addition to cribs in the strict sense, the exhibition also includes Christmas dioramas, i.e. representations realized with special lighting techniques that help to create a really magic and suggestive, almost dreamy, atmosphere, between reality and fiction.

The exhibition and works are made even more suggestive by the place that hosts them: the Arena needs no presentation, no matter the events that are held in it, from concerts to exhibitions, in any case this magic place makes everything even more charming.

The cribs exhibition, part of the Festival “Christmas at the Arena”, is a very good chance for children and adults that wish to learn more about an ancient tradition, which is deep-rooted in many countries, but which is characterized by peculiarities and variants that many people do not know. The Christmas crib festival will cast light (in all senses!) on one of the most typical and appreciated elements of Christmas, presenting works that are typical of different cultures and countries.
