Though both statements hold some truth to them,Basic Team Plays in Klaverjas Articles other more experienced players say that it requires a little bit of both to succeed in winning the game. As any player knows scoring points requires both members of the team to work together to collect a hand and score helpful bonus points whenever the situation presents itself.

This means that to win time and time again at Klaverjas, one has to work together with his or her teammate to come up with a flexible strategy that could tip the balance of the game in their favor. Though luck of the draw greatly affects your team’s game play, it only goes so far. Coming up with clever ways to communicate your plan across to your team mate will give you a much higher chance of winning than relying purely on luck alone.

In a game of Klaverjas between players who’ve only recently learned the rules of the game but haven’t mastered the subtle tactics needed to consistently win a round, the basic rule is to put down low value cards early on. This is done so that things become much more easier for the player as the round progresses on to the final three cards in hand. However, as any advance player may notice, this strategy has a lot of holes because there are some situations wherein a player is forced to trump up, thereby limiting his or her options later in the round.

Though it is true that when one is forced to trump up he or she limits his or her options later on. However, this doesn’t necessarily translate into a disadvantage. Remember, Klaverjas is a team game. This means that when you come up short in a particular round you could expect your partner to make the save for your team. If such were the case, your primary objective, as a team player, would be to conserve your high value cards as much as possible, for later use and let your partner win the current hand, if possible.

In Klaverjas, perhaps the greatest trial for a team is to turn a disadvantageous position into an advantageous one. This isn’t as easy as it sounds as you can count that the opposing team will also employ different strategies and tactics. If you’re still a novice player you’ll find that more often than not you’ll fail to see the most efficient play for a particular situation. But do not fret, because this doesn’t last. As you continue to play the game and gain more experience your own insight into the game will become much deeper. This will allow you to see through simple strategies and perform the most efficient countermeasures.
