NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Claudia C. Forero in Unbound Perspectives. The exhibition opens June 10, 2017 and runs through June 30, 2017 with an opening reception on Thursday, June 15 from 6-8 pm.
Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Claudia C. Forero earned her Bachelor degree in Visual Arts with a Major in General History and postgraduate studies in Communication Media in Universidad de los Andes, after which, in 2009, she pursued a Master’s degree in Aesthetics and Art History at Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano. This was a difficult time for Forero, who studied as the drug cartels waged war with the Colombian government. Experiencing daily bombings throughout Bogotá, Forero struggled and ultimately persevered in creating a unique artistic language centered on the concepts of beauty and kindness. She believes that the human figure, the natural world, and the sacred or divine are timeless themes to be honored even now in the technologically advanced 21st Century.
A figurative expressionist painting Forero chooses her medium based on the subjects she is working on. “I love art, and above all I love painting,” Forero says. “Its capacity to express, move, and evoke with colors, textures, and sometimes with scents the outer world that surrounds me and the world that lives inside me.”
Claudia C. Forero is an artist and art historian based in Bogotá, Colombia.

About the Exhibition
Unbound Perspectives
Unbound Perspectives, a group exhibition that spans new painting, photography, drawing, and even wood, opens this June at Agora Gallery. The show puts Japanese experiments with abstract textures in ink next to Mexican hyperrealistic oil portraits of real-life figures. There are fantastical manipulations of the female body in wood from Armenia and Indian contemplations of the infinite in acrylic. Side by side, the pieces challenge us to figure out what they have in common as much as they ask us how they are different. When artwork of this kind of range is presented altogether, an image of the state of contemporary art begins to emerge. Unbound Perspectives is essential viewing for anyone looking for a true survey of contemporary art that is far-reaching yet discerning.
