Born 12/2/1981, Britney Spears is a renowned American pop singer, songwriter, dancer, actress and author.

She has a brother, Bryan Spears, who works as a manager for the Spears family interests. She also has a sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, who is an actress and a singer.

During her growing years, Britney Spears was an accomplished gymnast and has also taken part in state-level competitions.

Britney auditioned for the Disney Channel series The New Mickey Mouse Club when she was eight years old.

In the year 1992, Britney Spears landed a spot on the popular TV show Star Search. Unfortunately, she lost after winning the first round of the competition.
When she was eleven years old, she returned to the Disney Channel for a spot on The New Mickey Mouse Club in Lakeland, Florida. Britney Spears was featured on the show till she became thirteen years old. The show included future celebrities like Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Joshua Chasez, Keri Russell and Ryan Gosling.

Sponsored by teen magazines, Britney Spears began a US concert tour and eventually became an opening act for ‘N Sync and the Backstreet Boys.

Even though Britney Spears declared that she would remain a virgin until marriage, her much publicized affair with fellow pop singer Justin Timberlake disproved her statement. In 2002, Britney Spears ended her relationship with Justin Timberlake after a four year relationship.

On January 3, 2004, Britney Spears married her childhood friend, Jason Allen Alexander, at The Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas. The marriage lasted 55 hours.

Later on, Britney Spears married Kevin Federline.

On September 14, 2005, Britney Spears gave birth to her first child, Sean Preston Federline in Santa Monica, California. A year later, she gave birth to her second child, Jayden James Federline.

Unfortunately, Britney’s marriage was on the rocks and she finally filed for divorce from Federline, citing irreconcilable differences and requested for both physical and legal custody of their two children, with visitation rights for Federline.

On July 30, 2007, their divorce was finalized.

In September 2007, Britney Spears was ordered to undergo random drug and alcohol testings and to attend parental counseling. On a conditional basis, Spears and Federline continued to share joint custody of their two children. A few days later, Spears was officially charged with misdemeanor hit-and-run. She was also driving without a license. She could face a year in jail if convicted.

On October 1, Spears lost physical custody of her children to Federline, with the court ruling that he will keep full custody of the children. The charges for her alleged hit-and-run that occurred in August 2007 were officially laid. Even though she was booked for the charges by the Los Angeles Police Department on October 15, she was not arrested.

On January 3, 2008, Britney Spears refused to relinquish custody of her children to Federline’s representatives. They had no choice but to call the police.

Spears was admitted for psychiatric evaluation at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for 2 days. On January 14, she was issued an order by Commissioner Scott Gordon stating that her visitation rights have been suspended indefinitely. Subsequently, she was taken to UCLA Medical Center on 31st January to be put on a 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold for the second time.
