Created by Tony Isabella and Trever Von Eden,Black Lightning was the Best Justice League Electrician Superhero Articles Black Lightning debuted in the DC comic world in April of 1977. He is one of the first major African American superheroes that was developed for the time, and is even one of the most powerful. He was ranked 85th greatest superhero of all time by IGN, earning him a major role in the Justice League. As an Olympic star, his powers to harness electricity made him an exert electrician. With no natural powers, Black Lightning harnessed a belt that allowed him to generate huge forces of electricity and project electric bolts. Clearly, Black Lightning is one of the most powerful and deadly superheroes in the DC Universe.

A true superhuman electrician, Black Lightning was later written by story writers as holding hidden powers he wanted to keep secret for years. Described as a meta human, Black Lightning was allegedly born with the ability to generate electromagnetic power. While it is unknown how much electricity this awesome superhero can generate, he has killed and defeated many men and villains in the DC comic series as well as his own Black Lightning spinoffs. So powerful is Black Lightning, he once revived Superman's heart after he suffered the most fatal exposure to kryptonite in the entire Superman series. Thankfully this mega electrician was nearby to revive the Man of Steel! Had he not been there, fans may have lost Superman sooner than later.

Many fans find that the character has not sufficiently been explored, especially considering the many DC characters that were adapted for the screen. Actor Terrance Howard, the man who played Jim Rhodes in the Iron Man film, once stated he would be interested in making a spinoff series for Black Lightning. To date, the only series, non-comical African American adaptation for the screen with a main role was the Spawn series. Black Lightning's character had a voice role in the animate movie titled Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, which was voiced by actor LeVar Burton. He was once played by comedian Sinbad on an episode of Saturday Night Live in which he crashes the funeral of Superman.

Despite his lack of appearance in the films, Black Lightning has made some appearances in video games. He can be seen in Batman: The Brave and the Bold - The Videogame as well as DC Universe Online. There are some rumors that this mighty electrician superhero will reprise a role in a future game, but many fans are hoping for a live action film. It is unknown if Black Lightning will make an appearance in the Justice League franchises, but many fans are holding out keeping their fingers crossed. It has recently been confirmed that Black Lightning will appear in the animated shorts that will appear in the Cartoon Network. These are going to be animated superhero shorts for the DC Nation block on that network.
