Spending some time looking through various costume shops can be both interesting and exciting. It seems that the possibilities are endless. A customer can be anything from a vampire to a cowboy and everything in between by renting an outfit that matches the character. While purchasing a entire ensemble is a possibility, most people choose the option of rental for either one night or up to a week.

Choosing the Right Look

The fun of a costume shop is browsing through the endless rows of characters. Some customers know exactly who or what they want to be. They come in with a plan and begin the search right away. Others tend to walk around and examine different options until they find something that inspires them. Either way, even if a person decides they want to be a nurse, a doctor, or even the patient, there are a variety of ways to dress as this person. The doctor could be traditional, scary or even a little sexy.

No outfit is complete without the right accessories. Props, hats and wigs can all be worn to create a more authentic look. For some customers, the goal is to look completely different, in some cases even fooling their closest friends. In order to do this, accessories make a huge difference. If changes need to be made such as hemming or taking in the waist of an outfit, those items are arranged and the cost assessed. From there, it is important to find out how much the rental will cost, when it needs to be returned and any other conditions that are deemed important. This includes the condition of the outfit and accessories upon return. Some costume shops will dry clean the clothing when it is returned and the cost is included in the rental price.

Returning the Clothing and Accessories

Before leaving the shop, customers need to know the procedures for returning the outfit to one of the costume shops. As part of the contract, the outfit and all of the accessories must be brought in before a certain time. If a customer makes a late return, they often change fees. Remember that when an outfit is not in the shop, no one else can take out the rental. The goal is to have all of the different items in the shop for potential customers to look at.
