1) Dishwashers

A solid, reliable dishwasher is definitely going in as number one on this list. Cast your mind back to the days where you would have guests round for dinner. The evening was going swimmingly: conversation was flowing, the wine was gushing, even the kids slept soundly through the entire affair. Then it's time for th washing up. Plates, pans, bowls, cutlery, glasses, baking trays, knives, chopping boards; the whole ordeal would take hours. Nowadays we have the luxury of chucking eerything in a metalic box that does it for us.

2) Induction hobs

These rather flashy gadgets can be one of two things: great or abismal. Essentially they incorporate the laws of touch screen into the cooking world, turning your once gas stove into a cooking appliance fit for a nucular physicist. OK, so maybe they aren't that impressive but there's certainly something about them that spells success.

3) Double-door fridges

Victims of a classic Hollywood camera shot. A black screen, suddenly filled with the face of a tired-looking movie star as he reaches in to retrieve something from a rack: the ol' reach into the fridge camera trick. There's something timeless about these giant refrigerators and how you can store a seamless amount of goodies in them.

4) Coffee machines

Instant coffee is dead. At least it should be now that delicious coffee machines are now on the market. Grab your pod of Nespresso, shove it in the machine and out comes a broiling cup of the most beautiful coffee imaginable.

5) Juicers/smoothie makers

These are perhaps all the rage at the moment, possibly as a result of a television documentary fad or being the medicine of choice for many sleek, elegant, aspiring actresses and models. With a splash of imagination, a morning juice can be a delectable delicacy; however, just throwing in vegetables for the sake of it can be a disaster: you are forewarned.

6) SONOS speakers

Whilst these have nothing to do with a kitchen directly, they could not be missed off this list because they just make any room in any house that little bit more special. A means to play and listen to music throughout your house, a SONOS system can bring joy to activities such as cooking and cleaning.
