Sanctum is a 3D action thriller directed by Alister Grierson. The film is about a group of underwater cave divers, who are on a perilous expedition to the largest and most beautiful and least accessible cave system on earth. A tropical storm pushes them deep into the caverns. They have to fight the furious water, deadly terrain and their own panic as they desperately search for an escape route.  Master diver Frank McGuire (Richard Roxburgh) who has explored the South Pacific's Esa-ala Caves for months, but when an unexpected storm seals the exit, Frank's team including his 17-year-old son Josh (Rhys Wakefield) and financier Carl Hurley (Ioan Gruffudd) are forced to drastically change their plans. With diminishing supplies, the crew must navigate an underwater maze to make it their way out and survive as they are faced with the obvious Can they survive, or will they be trapped forever?

The film has been shot off the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. Sanctum makes use of 3-D photography techniques developed by James Cameron for his previous film, Avatar. The path breaking technology used in shooting this action thriller will take the audiences on an exciting and breathless journey across plunging cliffs and into the furthest reaches of our cavernous world.
