Variations and Online Play

Hartenjagen
,Hartenjagen: Introduction To A Popular Card Game Articles which originated in the Netherlands, has numerous variants that are played all over the world. The most popular variations of the game are considered to be Black Lady, Black Maria, Crubs, and Chase the Lady. Many other variations also exist, some of which are strongly influenced by the British Black Lady; most of them use different scoring schemes.

Hartenjagen is considered a member of the Whist family of trick-taking card games but it stands out among similar variants because of its evasion element.

The game is also played online, either on gaming websites or within small applications which are usually freeware. Online hartenjagen, even though sometimes can have specific rules, for the most part tends to comply with those of the live version of the game.

When played against human opponents, online hartenjagen requires good teamwork skills and solid tactics. The game is easy to learn and addictive but quite complex.

Both the live version and online hartenjagen can be played by anyone from 7 or 8 years upwards. However, it is generally considered better to begin with the live version and learn all its basic rules before playing on the Internet against computer or human opponents.

Basic Aspects

Online hartenjagen,
just like the classic game, is played in four with 52 cards from the Anglo-American deck; in three or six with 51 or 54; and in five with 50.

The game always beings clockwise and the average duration of a hand tends to be around 5 minutes. It is considered that the random chance element present in the game is low to moderate. Thus those who play regularly and devise game tactics are generally the ones who win most of the time.

The card ranking in Hartenjagen is as follows:

·         Ace ’ King ’ Queen ’ Jack ’ 10 ’ 9 ’ 8 ’ 7 ’ 6 ’ 5 ’ 4 ’ 3 ’ 2

The game has gained in recent years a great deal of popularity on computers, especially on those operating Windows XP. Also, many gaming websites feature it as one of their most played games, and constantly introduce new variations of it.
