Ever Since the rise of the digital music era, major record labels have been running around aimlessly trying to refrain people from getting their hands on the latest free music to download...but what have they accomplished really?

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the people interested in finding free music to download are the very same people that have been bringing in billions of dollars in revenue to the music industry. It's no big secret...everybody wants to get their hands on the latest free music to download and it would probably make more sense if the record industry was to develop a new business model that caters to individuals who are constantly looking for new music to download, then develop a way to profit from the situation.

Working out agreements with internet service providers is one potential solution. Wouldn't it make sense if the music industry was to work out some kind of blanket license like they currently do with radio stations, but then do the same thing with internet service providers, which would allow them to give people access to unlimited free music to download? There are probably many more potential solutions but the question becomes, why don't the major labels want to give people free music to download if they could possibly benefit from doing so?
