The latest band to enter into the pop scene is La Roux,La Roux New Synth Pop Duo and Their Self Titled First CD Articles pronounced La Roo.  They are a synth duo band that is made up of an eccentric women with a dramatic flare, Elly Jackson and a man that up until late he was content with playing a background role, Ben Langmaid.  Many of the album track are written by Jackson about her 5 year on again off again relationship, and together they attribute much of their musical influence to 80's pop band like Human League, Blancmange, Yazoo and Heaven 17.

The very first album release is a self entitled album that has all the sounds of an 80's synth pop band and some of the 80's look as well.  No matter what the look their sound is still extremely impressive.

Although it is always a risk when purchasing an album from a new band, this album is definitely worth every penny.  It appears that the times are changing and we are moving towards a return of the 80's, therefore this will definitely not be the last we hear from this duo.

My absolute favorite album tracks are Quicksand and Bullet Proof, although I am disappointment with the lack of appearances by Langmaid.  Langmaid has had such a large part in the musical workings of this album that it is a shame to seem him continue to stay in the background.  He should be there is the front front where he belongs, along Jackson as together they make a wonderful addition to the music industry.

I really enjoyed the flavor of this new duo and with Elly's look having both the androgynous side and the cute school girl side, and a voice that goes the distance, this incredible duo may be releasing their first album but it certainly wont be their last.  Pick it up and check it out.  You wont be disappointed.
