18th December 2011 will be a red letter day in the history of TV channels. It was the day Life Ok was launched by Star India in place of its earlier TV channel Star one that focused on youth centric shows. This new channel ushered in the era of dramatic story telling with diverse shows being launched. The format of these shows was a mere 30 minutes with hardly any advertisements in between. This life ok show showcased the story of a married lady and her life with her psychotic husband. The trials and tribulations struck a chord among the women and became an overnight success leveraging the new TV channel in its GRP ratings. Taking this amazing step ladder of life ok success further was another mythological serial Devon Ke Dev Mahadev. This mythological show garnered the interest of everyone in the audience for its locales, correct portrayal of characters, and absolutely fantastic star cast. The people involved in this drama series became instantly popular though they were not new to TV industry. The introduction of the handsome and dashing Mohit Raina as the Lord of Gods was a great casting coup. He correctly essayed the role of Mahadev and looked like the Lord did in most of his pictures used in calendars today. This life ok serial offered him the opportunity to play the God with different getups that caught the fancy of the audience.
Another TV channel that has been on top of the charts and award ceremonies is the happening Star Plus. This channel features the most family viewing serials today. Star plus serials have loads of drama happening in each family on the TV shows. What can be seen among the Star plus serials is the families showcase different communities like the Gujarati's, the Rajasthani Marwadis and more. The channel is a collusion of different mindsets and way of life that ideally the audience can see and get to know from the comfort of their homes. One of the most watched Star plus serials today is the Diya aur Baati Hum. This show has been on the topmost position for weeks now. What has the people making sure watching this show has been the story line that showcases a husband who supports his wife in becoming a police inspector in spite of his traditional family and their rules. Another show that tugs heartstrings is the one where the protagonist is played by a small girl child. The show Veera showcases her bond with her elder brother and the surprises each day brings to her family.
