Pick-4 is a four-digit lottery game with several play types to choose from, providing players with many different ways to win. When you get the play slip, you choose four winning lottery numbers from 0000 to 9999, and you do so by marking them using a pencil or a pen. If you think choosing random numbers is lucky, then you can ask the retailer for a Quick 4 or Quick Pick. With this option, the computer selects four random numbers automatically.

If you think choosing random numbers is lucky, then you can ask the retailer for a Quick 4 or Quick Pick. With this option, the computer selects four random numbers automatically. Playing the same numbers repeatedly is allowable for up to fourteen consecutive drawings. When you get your play slip, you mark the number that corresponds to the number of drawings that you would like to play. Each bet is priced at $0.50, and you can bet $1.00 as well.

What Not To Do

You should never mark the numbers using a pen with red ink since it won’t be accepted by the computer. Instead, mark the numbers using a pen with black or blue ink. Additionally, avoid making stray marks on the lotto ticket or pay slip. Stray marks could be mistaken as play options or numbers. If you make a mistake when marking your number selections, do not scratch or erase the markings. What you should do is mark the “VOID” box, which can be found at the bottom of each play area. Another thing to remember is that when you encounter anything that says, “Guaranteed Pick-4 wins with 15 number combinations”, do not believe in it right away because it is not always to possible to win just by playing fifteen number combinations in one draw.

Play Areas

A Pick-4 play slip has five play areas marked from PLAY A to PLAY E, or BOARD A to BOARD E. Each of these areas represents a distinct play. All four of the numbers of your choice should be marked in the same play area. You can also purchase all five plays if you wish.

Play Types

You can choose from three different Pick-4 play types. The play type will automatically be set to straight play if you do not specify a type.

Straight

To win in the straight play, your number combination should match the exact order of the four numbers drawn.

Box

In the box play, your number combination does not have to match the exact order of the numbers drawn. If the numbers drawn are 2468 and the numbers you bet on were 4682, you will still win money. However, you cannot bet on a combination with all of the same numbers. For example, a number combination like 5555 is not allowed and it would not be accepted.

There are four ways to play the box. You can choose among 4-way (three of the same digits in one combination), 6-way (two sets of the same numbers), 12-way (one set of the same number and two different numbers), and 24-way (all four digits are different).

Straight/Box

The straight/box play allows you to combine a $0.50 straight play and a $0.50 box play in one single play. Winning in both the straight and box plays will give you the top jackpot for bets that are priced at $1.00. If you only win the box play, you will still get a prize, but not as big as the prize that you would get if you were to win both plays.

Drawings

The drawings are held two times a day. The time for the draw varies from state to state so it is best to ask the retailer for the time of the draw. When you fill out your play slip, make sure to select between MIDDAY/DAY or EVENING/EVE.  You can also mark the “BOTH” box if you wish to play both schedules. If you do not select a box, the play slip will be for the next Pick-4 drawing that will occur. If you want to play it on a different day, blot the “ADVANCE DAY” box. Do not forget to buy your play slip earlier than the time of the drawing that you wish to participate in, if you want your ticket to be valid for that scheduled drawing.
