Having to practice long to capture the voice of Shotgun Willie himself, Hammock also has the look to go along with it. But Willie Nelson is one of America’s favorite stars as he has been performing his “outlaw” style music for decades and has grown to become a household name as he has had lead roles in a number of feature films from the early 80’s. Always political, Willy has gotten himself involved in more than a few sticky situations, but always coming out on the other side the same old Willie Nelson.
Willie Nelson was born in Texas during the early 30’s while the Great Depression was in full swing. Raised by his grandparents, Willie had an early affinity for songwriting, and after he graduated high-school and trying to make it in the air force, he dropped out of college to pursue a full time career in music. Ever since then Willie has managed to break stereotypes and drawn new boundaries on countries music in a way no other artist has before.
Due to his decades of contributions to country music, Willie has become cemented as one of the greatest folk singers and artists of a generation. It’s for these very reasons Roy chose to go with making a career of looking and sounding like Willie, saying he can relate to his background and Texas based roots that they share. Now after a few years of dedicated performances, he has become one of the most beloved impersonators in the Southwest, performing at different towns and ending up at the show that the Las Vegas Review Journal calls the “Best of Las Vegas 2011!”
