The Headphone Disco concept is the brainchild of the Pirate Disco Berlin!
The concept of a disco where people dance to music listened to on headphones is the brainchild of Pirate Disco Berlin. 433fm people claim to be the originators and creators of the Silent Disco. That is false! The concept was ripped off from Pirate Disco Berlin…!
Although the co-founders of 433fm were the first bringing to life the headphone disco concept in Rotterdam the Netherlands back in 2002, they are not the creators and the ones that had the original idea in first place as they claim in their webpage and interviews all over the world. It is therefore false to create the impression that they are such pioneers and so unbelievably original.
It is right to say that it’s thanks to the work of the 433fm people that the Silent Disco became famous and known around the world. They also had the great advantage to be the only ones around without any concurrence for a long time, allowing them to grow untouched.
Here is the real true story:
In search for investors for my Disco with Headphones concept (as I remember calling it back in 2000/2001… just the best way to explain what it was all about, once the concept did not exist anywhere), I did have to expose the project and idea to strangers in my efforts to convince them of the potential. Obviously, I did talk too much and to the wrong people because I never been able to start the Headphone Disco project.
When still busy to find a investor or partner, to my surprise, I see the Silent Disco happening just in front of my eyes in the same city where I was living and where I was actively looking for a partner. It’s too much coincidence that the same original, pioneer idea is coming to live in the same town. It could happen anywhere in the world but NO, it just happens under my feet. Maybe Rotterdam is full of creative people, who knows? Well I tend to believe that I was ripped off and I already express my feelings to the rippers J.
Yes, I can hear you saying that it was stupid of me to talk openly to strangers about the idea or project. On the other hand, the question is how will you get finance for your original project if you don’t reveal it to potential investors?
I still remember people saying that I was again busy with crazy ideas that will never function. But I was determined to make it work and was never afraid of crazy labels. Like a James bond with a mission impossible, only without the name and without the money the mission often turns out impossible!
Life goes on! But I can’t stand when people are not fair and claim to something they are not! I just needed to make this little correction because some people are not as original as they claim to be. Probably nobody cares where and how it all came to happen… Oh well! The world is not perfect but if I can I try to make it better! Spreading lies is sure not the best way to make it a better place. The Silent Disco concept was my original idea and project… punto e basta!
