This initiative,Student Artwork to Be Displayed Alongside Picasso's Masterpieces Articles part of the Arts Alive program, is designed to foster a deeper interest in art among local students.

Criteria for Selection

Stacie Hernandez, the owner of Palencia Fine Arts Academy, explained the selection criteria: "We will be looking at composition, value, and proportion, as well as how the piece relates to the theme. The best of the best will be chosen to hang with Picasso."

Submission Process and Categories

From now until the December 21st submission deadline, art teachers from the district’s 34 schools will submit their students' work. Each piece must be inspired by one of Picasso’s many styles. The competition is divided into three age categories: elementary, middle, and high school.

Judging and Exhibition

A panel of professional judges will select the top 20 pieces from each age category. These semi-finalists will have their work displayed at the Palencia Fine Arts Academy on January 12, 2013, for a juried show.
