Since Take That burst on to the pop scene in 1990,Take That Tribute Bands; The Next Best Thing Articles British pop has never been quite the same. They ruled the pop charts in the early nineties with hits such as It Only Takes A Minute, originally performed by the US based soul & funk band Tavares in 1975. Take That also covered Dan Hartman's 1979 disco smash Relight My Fire, taking the boys and veteran 60's singer Lulu to number one in 1993. After 13 top ten singles and 8 number one singles, Take That disbanded in 1996 only to reform a decade later in 2006. In spite of taking a ten year break whilst the British pop charts were dominated by the Britpop bands such as Oasis, Travis and Blur, the British public welcomed them back with open arms.

However fans of Take That could enjoy the spirit of their music and live performances during their dormant years thanks to a number of very talented Take That tribute bands. These Take That tribute performers play all of their most popular hits and pull off the dance routines which were the hallmark of our best loved boy band; dance routines that no Take That tribute band could live without. With names such as Fake That, Take This, Take All That, Like That and so on, the plethora of Take That tributes have been entertaining fans up and down the UK for almost as long as our boys from Manchester have.

The key to a great tribute band is not having a band full of look-a-likes, but in having a band full of sound-a-likes. If the voices don't come up to scratch then the audience will not be convinced. Take That tribute bands have to get the sound right, the harmonies right and the musical arrangement right before they can even start working on the dance routines. With the departure of Robbie Williams in 1995, the Take That tribute band now comes in two distinct forms; the four piece post-Robbie line up, and the traditional 5 piece line up featuring Gary (with one 'r'), Howard, Jason, Mark and of course Robbie.

With the return of Take That and the fact that Robbie rejoined the band on both their studio album 'Progress' and on their UK & European tour; Progress Live meant ticket sales for the live concerts sold in record time, leaving thousands of disappointed fans without a ticket. However thanks to a variety of highly talented Take That tribute bands who perform up and down the UK, fans of the greatest British boy band can enjoy the next best thing; a Take That tribute band.
