With as much talking as people do today by way of telephone, texting, and e-mail, one would think it would be easy to find a speaker for any occasion: Few things could be further from the truth.
With as much talking as people do today by way of
telephone, texting, and e-mail, one would think it would be easy to find a
speaker for any occasion: Few things could be further from the truth. Talking
one on one, or even talking with a group of friends is vastly different, and
more nerving than speaking to an audience of strangers, and sceptics.
Therefore, when finding a speaker one needs to make sure that you find someone
that is at ease, and not a novice at speaking to crowds.
The speaker one chooses will depend on the type of event that is taking place.
The speaker should be matched with the event in order to assure that the speech
and the event does not clash. Seminars that are planned as part of an organisation,
professional group, or trade events should have a keynote speaker that is au
fait with the body being served in the gathering. If it is a seminar for
medical professionals then it would be expected that the motivational
speakers would be a doctor, nurse, or some
other medical specialist; this gives integrity to the gathering. Usually they
are standout names in these professions that have made a name for themselves
that others would actually pay money to hear speak, especially if it is
preceded by a good meal.
There are some events that capture such a broad spectrum of the population,
that it is more difficult to find a suitable speaker because of the diverse
audience. However in these circumstances there are always speakers that can
reach a majority appeal for the audience in attendance. Some of those with a
broad appeal are public figures, such as community leaders, politicians, public
office holders, and celebrity speakers. Even if people do not agree with the
views of certain politicians they still are intrigued to meet them in a
personal public way; and this event with a good meal makes this the perfect
time to meet them. Perhaps in the back of their minds they think they may have
a chance to speak their own mind to them, if only briefly. Celebrity Speakers
almost always are able to draw a crowd. People that are seen on television or
on stage have a way of fascinating audiences with their anecdotes. It is
thrilling and refreshing to see that these larger than life characters on stage
or television are real human beings just as we are. Some Celebrity
Speakers could even be professional sportsmen
or women; they can be very beneficial if they are used
while they are still in their prime playing years. Overall, the best recipe for
a successful event is to know the audience you will be dealing with, and match
the speaker to them.
