Just as there are literally hundreds of shades of purple, there are many interesting facts about this fascinating color as well. Associated with magic and spirituality, Wizards were often portrayed wearing large purple jackets and hats. In the Arthurian legend, Merlin was one of the greatest wizard who always wore a purple jacket. The color is also linked with the Seventh Chakra, also known as Shasrara, which is located at the crown of the head. Chakra refers to each of the seven energy centers of which our consciousness and energy system is composed of. The Seventh Chakra is our connection with the Spiritual World.

Associated with wealth, this color was very expensive to purchase and make. Purple robes were worn only by royalty and people of high authority. The color was adored by the famous Cleopatra. Thousands of sea snails were soaked for more than a week, just so that the queen can get an ounce of her favorite color. The dye that was extracted from these sea snails was highly favored by many because it was very bright and did not fade. Egyptians also representd this color with power. When used in home decor, it can give you peace of mine and spiritual fulfillment. Purple goes best with the color gold, since the two are associated with royalty. In Feng Shui, it is considered to be a Yin color and should be used in moderation. The color is also associated with meditation.
