Few men can claim they have risen to the top through violating other peoples’ privacy, but with Gerry McCambridge this is expected! Having Been honing his skills for decades, Gerry can easily be considered one of the longest running and most experienced mind reading entertainers on the planet (for all we know!). Bet you wondering though, if he started so young how does a kid learn to pierce your inner most thoughts with such accuracy? Well his father was a Detective in New York City, and a master of interrogation. So without a doubt, he has learned a trick or two from his old man. But how did he manage to take it as far as becoming the longest running Mentalist in Las Vegas history?
In the 1980’s you could find Gerry at clubs across the country. Headlining with his famous self-made title “The Mentalist”, he created a new category all his own. Becoming a huge hit thanks to some master observational skills (remember dad was a NYPD detective) Gerry continued the mindstravaganza across the country performing for corporate events and gatherings wowing audiences with his comedic approach to his readings. As he continued to appear on radio and talk shows across the country, more and more became interested in the enigma that was McCambridge! In 1999 Gerry was awarded by the International magicians Society, the first ever Merlin award for mentalism to honor his major contributions to entertainment within his field. In 2004, Gerry struck gold with his own hit one hour T.V. spot, “The Mentalist” drawing millions of viewers the world over. Soon after Gerry put together his one man show (again with his favorite title) Off-Broadway in New York and was well met by all the critics.
Taking this success for all it was worth Gerry took his new show across the country. Eventually becoming a huge sensation from New York to Las Vegas, the latter of which his success was so potent he would end up making Sin City his residency! Performing consecutive shows to roaring crowds Gerry had found a new desire in the public for his masterful antics of mentalism! In 2008 the Mentalist performed his 500th show after 3 years, to which he was given a special ceremony by his host venue, The Major Las Vegas Resort “Hooters”. He was awarded an extra year onto his contract, and given a public tribute by the COO of the resort along with a rare one of a kind Rolex. Later that year Gerry was contacted to make his idea of Mentalism in fighting crime a reality with the weekly running, self titled television show. Now in 2012 the city of Vegas has been very good to Gerry, running his show at the V2 Theater located right above the famous V Theater. His show has been claimed across the board as a definite “Must See” and one of the best shows, hands down in town.
