Pick a Race and Stick With it – The first of these StarCraft 2 strategies is for when you first get the game. Early on it's a good idea to try each of the three races to see which you feel most comfortable with and enjoy the most. If you played the original StarCraft or Brood War and had one favorite race, stick with it as you're likely most comfortable and familiar with it. If you're choosing for the first time, know that no one race is without its chinks in its armor. You should have 3 workers on a geyser, as well, for gas. Spend your resources just as quickly, however. Never find yourself in a situation where you're sitting on an abundance of minerals. Keep building and never have more than 500 minerals at one time.

Know Your Build Order – Each race obviously has different types of forces and units. Each race has a recommended best build order which you should be off and running with as soon as the game starts. It's important that you don't commit to any one build order throughout the game, however. If you are attacked early on you should be prepared to alter your build order accordingly.
