The Bastakiya area, which is in Bur Dubai nest to Dubai Creek, is one of the important places to visit in Dubai. It is one of the oldest heritage sites in the city and is certainly the most atmospheric area. The area is characterized by traditional wind tower houses, built around courtyards and clustered together along a winding maze of alleyways. The distinctive four-sided wind towers seen on top of the traditional flat-roofed buildings were an early form of air conditioning, capturing the breeze and channeling it down into the houses.
