Although not at all mainstream,What is Deathcore Music and Do I Care? Articles deathcore music certainly has its avid, almost rabid, fans. A combination of two subsets of musical genres in the metal category, deathcore features very fast guitars, pounding drums and some unique types of vocalizing. Not so much straightforward singing per se, this type of music focuses on guttural grunts and the occasional pig-like squeals instead of clear and clean singing.

While singing is not the focus of this music, the lyrics and the lyrical concept of the songs are still important. Themes in deathcore music are darker and more twisted than what you would hear in the straightforward metal songs or even in death metal.

Detractors of this type of music subgenre call it nothing but less talented hacks who could not make it in either deathmetal or metalcore outfits, depending on who is making the assessment. Fans call each other by names to show their distaste for the musical style, and things have been known to get violent.

True fans of this type music will know where to get their favorite music and who is up and coming in the field. This is no small feat because of the fact that deathcore music is not played on the radio stations and has fairly small appeal and fan bases. Magazines, fan sites, e-zines and other fan supported or fan based material allows the music to continue to reach those who are interested in this type of music.

The bands that play deathcore music typically produce their own music and generate their own promotional marketing materials. They may play in other bands, even in other genres, to earn the money that allows them to create their own sound and to further their band in the public eye.

If you are interested in becoming a deathcore performer, there are a few things that you should keep in mind. First, don’t assume that you do not need musical talent. As a performer, you will still need to play music with some great prowess. The guitar riffs are lightning fast and feature incredible change ups and breakdowns. You can’t take the microphone and just expect to screech and squeal and be the star of the show. You are actually going to have to know what you are doing, or you will not only fail but you will cause serious damage to your voice as well. Deathcore music is not just screaming- it is screaming with a purpose.
