What To Do On The Fourth of July

The Fourth of July is celebrated by people in the United States in many different ways. Some people travel to historic parts of the country to learn history, while others travel for vacation or to visit other family members. There are some people who celebrate the holiday at home by themselves or with immediate family. Many people host barbeques and picnics with fireworks. 
Traveling on a holiday can be a little hectic, especially if it is a family vacation. If a person chooses to travel then they should consider going a few days before the actual holiday and stay a few days after. Booking the travel plans early and buying tickets in advance is a great idea. The person traveling will want to plan a schedule of sight-seeing because a lot of places may be closed the day of the Fourth and sometimes the day before or after. However, a lot of other special events may be taking place in the city the person is visiting. 
If a person decides to stay home and relax they can still celebrate the holiday. The person could fix a personal-sized barbeque meal by grilling in the oven or on the grill. The meat can be wrapped in aluminum foil and cooked slowly in the oven if the person does not to fire up the grill. They could also rent movies that have to do with summer vacation and Independence Day. The individual could watch the fireworks in their neighborhood or watch them on television if the town they live in provides coverage. There is also a program that appears on public television every year that has patriotic music and fireworks broadcast live from Washington D.C. The program is usually titled, "A Capitol Fourth."
Hosting a Fourth of July party takes planning but can be fun. Most people cook out on the grill but something different would be to have different types of finger foods. The host is free to serve whatever food they want to their guests. Why not celebrate the immigrants in your family by choosing a recipe or two from their culture? Be mindful of the particular challenges of the summer heat: certain foods especially salads with mayonnaise need to be kept cold and meats should be served hot or quickly placed in the refrigerator to be kept safe from bacteria growth. It is also good to have a variety of drinks and plenty of water. The activities can be outside and inside games just in case the weather does not hold up. If the party is just going to be adults, then the host should take into consideration that they may not want to play hop scotch on the sidewalk. The host has to come up with activities to entertain the guests or at least music and a good mix of highly sociable people. If there are going to be children at the party then activities for their age group should be planned, like a sandbox or a collection of low-capacity squirt guns, so as not to annoy the adults too much. The host should not want people to be at their event bored and wishing they were somewhere else. 
It does not matter how people celebrate Independence Day, as long as they enjoy themselves. It is fun in the sun, fireworks and food. It is a great holiday to celebrate the United States with family and friends or relaxing alone at home.
