You're planning your wedding and trying to decide between hiring a DJ or a wedding band. There are a few distinct differences and it's important to weigh the options when deciding. A DJ stands behind his equipment and sometimes offers short announcements but as for kicking the party in gear, there's nothing like hiring a band for your wedding. Although most DJ's and bands for weddings have play lists the live bands are more apt to take requests.

A live band is essential for getting the party started. The interaction between the band and the guests is all important. Be sure the band has plenty of experience and knows not only how to get the guests going but to keep it moving and rock on until the wee hours. Just be sure to keep the microphone away from that certain wacky aunt who wants to "honour you" with her interpretation of "The Rose." She means well but is always just a bit off key. Be sure your band members know to keep a watch out for just such an incident and that they know exactly how to handle Aunt Lulu.

It's your wedding so get the most bang for your buck and hire live musicians to set the mood of your reception and start your marriage on a good note.
