Step 1: Locating the Carpenter Ants Place the honey or sugar into the bowl to act as a bait,Means of Carpenter Ants Control Articles then place the sweet bait close to where you think they could be located. Follow them back to their nest, you can now begin the process of getting rid of them. Step 2: Getting rid of Carpenter Ants using Aerosol Wear old clothes or overalls and get all your materials ready, open any windows and make sure the room is well ventilated and keep children away from the area. Depending on how many carpenter ants you have you will need about one small cup of boric acid. Spray the aerosol pesticide directly inside the entrance of the nest and place the boric acid near the entrance of the nest. This should get rid of the ants but some ants may survive so this may not be sufficient. If you manage to kill the majority of the ants then place them into a durable plastic bag and dispose of safely. Step 3: Getting Rid of Carpenter Ants by Drilling Holes Keep the area well ventilated with any available windows open and again keep small children away from the area. For this you will need to make sure you have your drill to hand and the other materials you previously used apart from the aerosol. Drill several holes into the nest, and dust lightly with boric acid so it sinks into the nest and kills the ants at their source. Place the nest into a durable plastic bag and dispose of safely Step Four - Getting rid of Carpenter Ants from Outside your Home Carpenter ants also congregate outside properties usually in rotting wood, for this you need to use a different method to get rid of them. You are going to need a large bowl of boiling water for this, your boric acid and a dustpan and brush. Open up the nest, pour all the boiling water over it and then dust with boric acid. Once you have done this brush everything away from the house using a dustpan and brush or broom. Getting rid of carpenter ants from outside of your property could ultimately prevent an infestation inside the property so it is always best to treat both the interior and exterior of your home. If you cannot remove the ants yourself, or your home is severely infested, you might need to call a professional exterminator to do the job for you. Also if you live in a rented property it might not be a good idea to tackle the problem yourself, and it will be best to contact your landlord to get someone to deal with the problem for you.
