Carbon dioxide has done goods as well as harms to human beings.

We all know about carbon dioxide. It is the waste of vital activities and too much of it pollutes the air. People now are blaming it for causing the terrible global warming and relevant disasters. However, we could not simply come to a conclusion that it is bad or harmful. It has many advantages, too. We should treat it objectively.

Carbon dioxide does goods to plants as well as human being. First of all, it plays an important role in the growth of plants. As we know, it is an indispensable substance in the process of photosynthesis. The more carbon dioxide there is in the air, the better the plants grow. As a result, human beings obtain more oxygen. Secondly, it is used as a fertilizer in vegetable planting. It is utilized in green houses and vinyl tunnels to help increase the yield. Thirdly, it is the source of oxygen in aviation and diving. There are specialized devices, converting it into the oxygen of the same amount. Fourthly, liquid carbon dioxide is widely used in agriculture and industry. People extract it from certain kinds of plants. Since it is a natural compound, it not only never destroys the normal vital activities of creatures, but also never leaves in the products. Furthermore, it is efficient and less harmful. When it is used as the demister in the airport, it is hundreds more effective than that of the solid state. And the harmful substances released into the air are much fewer. In addition, it is useful in science and high technology. It is applied in the laser treatments to reduce the pain. And it can be used in washing clothes to cut down the cost and lessen the pollution.

However, carbon dioxide does harms to the Earth, especially to the climate. The global warming caused by the increasing carbon dioxide leads to the melting of glaciers on the North Pole and the South Pole. The sea level is gradually rising, bringing dangers to cities along the coast. It also causes the basification of the seashores. What is worse, the water storage is smaller and smaller, which greatly influence people’s life. Besides, the increasingly high temperature of the Earth makes the seaweeds breed out of control and it also kills the planktonic algae. Such phenomenon, in return, affects the piscatorial industry. The increase of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is no doubt in a vicious circle.

Carbon dioxide has two sides. Whether it is useful or harmful depends on how we make use of it. We should strengthen the awareness that it is increasing. But there is no need for us being afraid. When we fully grasp its advantages and disadvantages, we could avoid the harms and try to use it in a scientific way.
