BUILDING BLOCK – WHERE IT COULD BE USED

A building block is a component of a big structure if you have to define it. However, when referred to children, a building block translates into pure joy and fun.

Parenting is an important phase of one’s life and one need to be very careful about what kids play with especially during the initial formative years which shall decide the actual growth of the kid. Various games are available in the market today to develop the kid’s mind and keep it occupied in a healthy way. Building block is one such activity which shall make your kid occupied in a healthy way all the time. It could be used with other games to give a variety and also have some mind sharpening take place in the early age itself.

Building block need not necessarily be a component of a miniature building. It could be a building or a piece of an animal which has to be assembled. In short, it could be a small piece of any structure which your kid needs to build. Since, using the different building block, he has to create a structure; the term building block has been used as a common notation.

Some common materials used to make a building block are wood and clay which are of the environmentally friendly type of materials. However, today, plastic material is more common to make a building block when compared to traditional materials. Color and brightness of the building block is what attracts kids towards it. Hence, any material which is used to make this building block needs to be compatible with the kind of paint which is used to give bright shades to them. Plastic is found to be very compatible in all these aspects and hence is the most preferred material of all the ones that are available. Also, plastic has the recyclable variant for the environment conscious people and hence is more popular.

Foam is another popular material used to make a building block. It is soft and attractive as it can absorb many colors very easily. A building block can also be used to teach colors and shapes to elementary school kids. A building block can be shaped into a square, cube, cuboid, sphere etc., and hence the shape gets registered firmly into the kid’s mind. Another popular use of the building block is to teach the basic alphabets of a language by making blocks for each letter of the alphabet series using the plastic or foam building blocks. A variety of games can be developed using these and they can be used to delight the children who are easily captivated by colors.
