3. Install a motion-activated security light above the garage door. Light is the enemy of burglars. They would rather take their chances with a house that is shrouded in darkness. To conserve energy, motion-activated lights will only come on when someone passes under the sensor.

4. Most modern garage doors scramble the code to open and close it every time the controller is used. However, if you have an older garage door, the code might never change, which means a burglar could potentially figure out the code and get inside. To combat this, you will need to replace your garage door with a newer model.
