Are you excited about the arrival of your new baby but short of ideas when it comes to decorating and furnishing a baby nursery?  Will you forget something vital?  Don't worry,Essential Baby Nursery Furniture Articles this list of essential furniture for your baby nursery will make sure that you don't overlook anything important.

1. Cribs

You have a few options where cribs are concerned; a traditional crib with pretty pleated skirt or plain and functional, baby baskets or all singing, all dancing convertible cribs.

A traditional crib may look cute but you will also need something portable so that you can keep an eye on baby wherever you are.  Baby will soon grow out of this and you will have to store it.  A larger sturdy crib of the more functional kind will normally be much bigger and therefore your baby will be able to sleep in it until he or she is at least a year old, sometimes older.

Alternatively, you could buy a toddler bed for later on and a baby basket which is portable but can be placed on the toddler bed or any other surface when it's time for sleep.

However, the Rolls Royce is a convertible crib, a combination of crib, rocker, carry chair and more.  These complete sleep systems comprise a bassinet with rockable, lockable base, a portable sleeper, a bedside sleeper which enables you to attach the unit to your own bed while you look after your baby without event having to get out of bed.  In addition there's a baby change table which, being vinyl covered, is easy to clean and finally the portable sleeper converts to a play seat.  There's even built-in entertainment with fun characters dangling from the canopy and five soothing audio selections built into the handle together with a nightlight.

2. Crib Bedding Sets

Next you will need to get some bedding and there are some lovely crib bedding sets to choose from, all made from lovely natural materials.  You'll need a crib bumper, fitted sheets and a nice soft blanket or two to allow for washing.

3. Baby Change Table

If you don't want to give yourself a backache, you definitely need a proper baby change table.  These usually have a suitable height flat surface on top with rails around so that baby can't fall off.  Beneath you'll find shelves or drawers which are ideal for storing nappies and your baby layette.

4. Lighting

There are some cute nursery lamps to choose from designed especially for babies but if you want your nursery lamps to be useful in the future just choose a normal small lamp in a pastel colour and put in a low wattage bulb so that the nursery lighting won't be harsh but will be enough for you to see that baby is alright in the night without putting on the main light.

Less essential but nice to have would be a rocking chair for feeding and soothing baby.  Rocking chairs for nursery use usually come in wipe clean material so those little accidents won't leave stains but really, any rocking chair would be nice to have for both of you.
