People go to the hospital for a number of reasons. Some are good reasons such as waiting for their child to be born and some are bad reasons such as waiting for surgery. Either reason people enjoy being given gifts during their time at the hospital.

The main reason is because hospitals are dull and depressing most of the time. So when you give a person in the hospital a gift it tells them that you really do care and that they mean a ton to you. Here are some great gift ideas that are both affordable and thoughtful.

The first would be a book. Because people are in the hospital they have a nice amount of time on their hands. Even with a TV inside the room most people still want to do something other than watch TV and reading a great book is the next best thing.

Music is another great option. You can bring the person a stereo that allows them to listen to music that will make them smile or you can give them a low cost MP3 player and upload a nice selection of happy songs onto it. Dancing and singing has always been known to make a person happy and this also applies to people who are in the hospital.

Flowers, balloons and stuffed animals are a common thing for people to give to those in the hospital. Why not try something different? Instead of going with a simple stuffed animal you can find in the gift shop, maybe you could try to knit, crochet or sew one yourself. The time you put into the gift will bring a huge smile to their face. You can also pair the stuffed animal with some flowers or even a good luck charm like key chain or even a necklace for a woman.

Home cooked meals are what the hospitals are always missing. You can bring them something tasty and good from your home that still fits into their diet. If you aren't sure what they can and can not eat, bring with you something simple like a collection of fruits inside a nice basket. It's an easy gift that shows you care about their health and their stomach.

Another great option is a piece of art or a figurine. Both of these things are great for those who might be in the hospital for a long time. You can place the figurine next to them and it will be a reminder of how much you care about them in their time of need.
