Hallway Storage Ideas and Tips

The hallway is the first area of our homes we enter,Hallway Storage Ideas and Tips Articles the area that guests see first. So you would have thought the people would ensure the hallway if looking at its best at all times. Unfortunately it normally gets forgotten about and at best it gets fresh lick of magnolia every few years.  We need to show our entrance halls / hallways some love. Stop treating the area like a walkway and start thing if it as a stylish room. Stamp your style on the room and give people an idea what the rest of your home looks like.

One of the issues with hallways is that they tend to be a bit of a dumping ground. Piles of shoes and coats, to football equipment, schools bags etc. Finding a way to get this lot tidied up is key to turning this space around into something special.

So how to find a solution that will suit your storage needs for what can be an awkward and narrow space?  I was surprised and the number of solutions available thought that I would share some of the most useful.

Tidy the Coats

Get the coats out of the way. This could be simply in the form of a standard coat hook or coat stand. This may sound a little simple, but you would be surprised at the difference this will make. I would suggest buying a shelf unit that has cost hook underneath it. That way you are gaining extra storage above you coats.

Stinky Shoes

There is nothing worse than a pile of stinky shoes to greet you on your return home.  It just looks so untidy, and is just lazy not to putting them away. My suggestions would be to buy a hallway bench that incorporates some kind of storage underneath. Having limited space is requires you to make the most of space available and this does exactly that. Most benches have some kind of rattan / wicker basket that are perfect to store all those pairs of shoes. If you think that this will look a little untidy then you can spend a little more and opt for a bench that is solid at the front and instead you lift the seat.

Chests

There are occasions when storage bench is just not going to be enough.  Having an addition bench of stage chest gives you space to put some of the bulky items that you can find living on the hallway. Umbrellas, football boots etc. I would take a trip to your local salvage yard for this as you can pick up an old trunk for next to nothing. Show it a bit of restoration love and a fresh coat of paint to match the other items in your hallway and you will have the start of a beautiful hallways.

Finishing touches

I don’t think a hallway is complete with some photos You need to inject some personality into the room and putting your favourites photos into some decent frames will do this with the minimum of cost.

I would also suggest getting a big mirror as this will helps bounce the light around and positioned
