Placing Your Sleeper Sofa In Your Home

Deciding where to put a sleeper sofa in your house can be a more complex decision than it first appears to be.  For one, you have to consider all the other furniture you have, and you do not want the sofa to interfere with the placement of anything else.  Ideally, the sleeper sofa should be put where this is no other furniture, especially since the sofa takes up a lot more space once it folds out.  If you put it around a lot of other furniture, you may find that you have a lot of trouble opening it up. 

You should also consider the aesthetics of the placement.  You want where your sofa is to accentuate the room and make it look better.  In order to achieve this, you have to be aware of a few design principles.  One of the most important is symmetry, which is making the room look balanced.  This means that each side of the room should have an equal amount of large and small furniture, as well as other attributes.  An area just looks better when it is symmetrical, although some people prefer some degree of asymmetry to give some uniqueness to their room. 

Of course, what matters most is that where you put the sofa is convenient for you.  It should be in a place that is easy to get to, and easy to operate.  You do not want to be stumbling around when trying to open the sofa, as that is quite uncomfortable and it will take you a lot longer to achieve what you are trying to do.  You want to be able to open the sofa relatively quickly, although you do not have to make speed the most important priority.

What ultimately matters is the sofa is where you need it.  Since you are going to be sleeping and sitting on it, it should be in a position where these activities can be carried out most efficiently.
