A holiday away with the family can be a great time for everyone, and leave you feeling refreshed and relaxed. However, it is also something that needs to be planned early to get the most out of it - between mum, dad, older kids, younger kids, and maybe pets or grandparents, you could all end up enjoying yourselves as a family...or needing a holiday to get over your holiday!

Leave the country?
Great deals can be found on overseas holidays if you book early. It is worth doing some research into the areas you wish to visit before you book,Plan Your Family Holiday Now! Articles as what was a quiet family-friendly town a few years ago might be a party haven now! Overseas family holidays are good because you are all going somewhere completely different to home, the weather will generally be better, and what kid doesn't like going on a boat or aeroplane? Travel agents can book you a complete "package holiday" with flights, accommodation, meals and entertainment, or if you prefer you can have a look at budget flight and hotels websites and create your own package.

Stay on home soil
If you are on a tighter budget, want to take your dog along with you, or just fancy staying on home soil, consider a camping holiday for a cheap and cheerful break. There are many types of tent available - those that sleep several people are often separated into "bedrooms", and perhaps older kids who want to be more "grown-up" can have a small tent of their own next to the family tent. Camping can be made easy even for novices - with disposable barbecues and new style pop-up tents, it's easy to have a weekend away at any time.

Be a guest of leisure
Another option for the UK is a leisure resort such as Butlin's or Center Parcs. The accommodation here is usually self-catering chalets, but there are plenty of places to eat on-site if you don't fancy cooking. Chalets sleep between 4 and 10 people as a rule. These parks are often very activity-centred, well-staffed and extremely family friendly.
A typical day might involve everyone going to the pool, then the younger kids doing an assault course while the older kids play tennis with Dad and Mum has a sauna. After lunch, the family can play crazy golf or go on a bike ride, then in the evening after dinner the kids can enter a talent show. The night finishes off with a disco and cabaret and everyone goes to bed exhausted!
No matter what kind of holiday you have, be prepared to shop around a little at travel agencies or on websites, and try to check the weather forecast before you book! Bear in mind that you won't always please all of your family members all of the time, but if you try to include something for everyone, stay within your budget and always be positive then you will have a fabulous time.
