Education and healthcare

If you're moving abroad with your family, you’ll need to apply for school places for your children well before your moving date. If English isn’t the main language spoken in the country you’re moving to, you’ll need to decide whether you want to send your children to an English-speaking school or a mainstream school. Sending them to an English-speaking school may make it easier for them to keep up with lessons and make friends.

Organising your healthcare is also important. You may need private medical insurance, so find out about typical healthcare costs in the country you’re moving to and take out an appropriate policy before you move.

Finding a removal company

Finally, you’ll need to arrange for an international removals company to transport your belongings to your new home. It’s worth getting quotes from a number of companies, but always choose a reputable and reliable firm. Some companies will provide crates and even help you to pack, but make sure you‘re clear about what’s included in the cost so you’re prepared on the big day.
