Majority of the reasons have an attribution to chromosomal defects in the fetus. Thus, there is a prevention of the normal development of the baby. The occurrence of many miscarriages are found  through cervical abnormalities as well. Sometimes, they are associated with problems in the uterus as well as the placenta. Some of them have an attribution to the following:

Hormonal problems
Women who are having a very irregular cycle along with hormonal defects will not find it easy to conceive. They will have increased risks of miscarriage.

Infections
There are many illnesses such as listeria, measles and rubella that have been linked to miscarriage.

Fibroids
If a woman is having large fibroids mainly around her weak cervix or the uterus, it leads to miscarriages later in pregnancy.

Caffeine/alcohol and cigarettes
Doctors agree that if a woman is smoking, drinking over various recommended units of alcohol and caffeine, the risk of miscarriage is greatly increased.

Previous miscarriage
It is shown by research that if a woman has had a miscarriage in the past, the chances of getting miscarried again are greatly possible.

Hughes syndrome
This is an autoimmune disease. The lining of the cells are attacked. it will attract all the things in the body. This is the only disease that can cause arterial and venous thrombosis. This will cause other autoimmune diseases as well. It is common that 1 out of 500 people are at  a risk. Women who have developed Hughes Syndrome have 18 percent lesser chances.

Ectopic pregnancy
The settling of egg is outside the womb. This is usually the fallopian tube. The symptoms include vaginal bleeding and pain. Often, they are also accompanied by dizziness. The general practitioner should be contacted immediately. This will rule out ectopic pregnancy.

Blighted ovum
The occurrence of this is found when there is an attachment of the fertilized egg to the uterus wall. However, there is no development of the embryo. This is in contrast to what is believed by people. A woman should not be suffering from serious medical problems or should be overweight. Many a times, the occurrence of miscarriage is found in healthy young women without any particular cause. This means that women will never be able to find the root of the problem.
