We’re seeing a lot of modern toys going head to head with rocking toys nowadays.  Of course, this is a good thing because there are more options for our little ones.  Unfortunately, they can’t guarantee entertainment especially the more complicated ones.  So we’re stuck with an expensive toy that your little one doesn’t want to play with.  So sometimes, it’s good to just stick to the classics.  If you want a toy that has been providing entertainment for centuries, a rocking toy is the one for you.

Simply put, they rock.  That’s both figuratively and literally speaking.  These simple toys rely on their rocking motion to provide entertainment for toddlers.  The mere fact that it’s still around, it just means that the simple formula is working.  Choosing a simple toy makes sense.  You don’t have to worry about your baby getting frustrated because he can’t operate the toy.  But with simple rocking toys, it will just take him seconds to figure out how to have fun with it.  So reserve the more complicated toys for when he grows up.  For now, stick to the toy that literally and figuratively rocks.

You’re mistaken if you think they’re boring.  There are now a lot of varieties available in the market.  So throw out that image in your head of an old and rickety rocking horse.  Aside from a horse, you can choose from a wide variety of designs.  You can go with a cow, lion, dog, alligator or even a ladybug.  You can even choose a boat or a motorcycle.  This simply means that there are a lot of colors available for rocking toys.  As you probably know, toddlers usually equate color to fun.

They’re also safer compared to before.  There are even plush rockers available for a more comfortable ride for your baby.  This gives them more reason to play with it.  As you probably know, your toddler will cry when uncomfortable.  Besides, it’s hard to have fun when you’re uncomfortable.  You also don’t have to worry about sharp edges since they’re covered in plush.

You can also choose from rocking toys depending on the age of your baby.  If you’re buying him his first rocker, you can choose to buy one that secures your baby better.  There are rockers that have harnesses to make sure that your baby isn’t going to fall over.  You can also base your decision on the seat.  There are more secure seats that safely enclose your baby.  If you choose wisely, you also don’t have to worry about it tipping over.

If you’ve had one as a child, don’t deny your toddler the opportunity to have the same amount of fun that you’ve had when you were little.  Check out the different rocking toys available and choose one according to your baby’s age, sex and personality.  You can’t go wrong with a toy that has been around for generations.
