A flashlight is a handheld source of light. The light emanates from a bulb which could be one of two types. Incandescent and LED (Light Emanating Diode). When we use a LED flashlight we can be assured that the failure of the bulb or the batteries do not fail at the time when it is most needed.

Before 1990 LED lights were coloured and they were used for little things like a digital sign or maybe a key ring light. However this light was insufficient to produce the brightness needed for visibility in the dark. Once the white light was discovered the LED flashlight came into being. As opposed to a flashlight using incandescent bulbs where it has a short life as well as it draws on battery power,The LED flashlight – is it a good choice Articles in the LED flashlight the bulbs and batteries last much longer. With an LED flashlight there is no risk of the flashlight suddenly dying on you.

The battery type used by the LED flashlight is easily available. This is an important aspect of the LED flashlight since there should be availability of the batteries close at hand. Having batteries that are hard to find will render the LED flashlight useless. A good thing of the LED flashlight is that even though the battery strength declines the light will not go off but it will become dimmer. It would be running on a reserve. This will alert one to replace the batteries but the need is not immediate and the battery life is capable of lasting a couple of extra days.

There is always the possibility of dropping something or another. The LED flashlight is no exception. It has been found that a very good feature of the LED flashlight is that it is shockproof and dropping it by accident will not lead to malfunction.  However, it should be noted that in some models, should the LED flashlight fall directly on its face or the end, the LED flashlight will tend to malfunction. This is because when it falls perpendicular to the ground the force of the weight of the batteries could damage the terminals or a part of the LED flashlight leading to a possible break in the circuit. This possibility is not peculiar to the LED flashlight alone but applies to any type of flashlight.

Should an LED flashlight fall into water it will not get damaged. All that is needed is to dry it out and it will be back in working order. Failure to clean and dry it out will make the LED flashlight to rust and lose its functionality.

It is good to keep in mind that whatever type of LED flashlight is used the beam will not go as far as that of an incandescent flashlight that uses a halogen or xenon beam that is well focused.
