There are certain things you can look for in an agent.  First of all, you will want to make sure you choose an agent who is authorized to sell insurance.  They should have legal licenses that are current and be able to provide this documentation to you.  You will also want to speak with a few different agents and find one who in knowledgeable and qualified in the insurance they are dealing with.  They should know all about the insurance and how it works and know how to work things and offer applicable discounts etc. to help you get the best rates.
