This day and age is probably the worst (at least my generation) has seen when it comes to health insurance. We are hit a couple of ways either we have lost our job and of course cant afford it or the company we work for is dropping our coverage. Here are a few things I have learned that might help most of us out.

The first part is to at least believe that you must have it. Saving money on not having any premiums is great but the guarantee of not getting sick or injured is is a huge risk. Information is key, look for the best coverage you can afford.

The fastest way to help get insured is to find a job any job. Whatever it pays and no mater what your doing as long as it has health insurance. Possibly a second job at night or even part time. Some companies may hire part time and will even provide health coverage. Make sure to ask lots of questions. Also if you belong to an association, club or group. You may even want to join a club that provides health insurance. The membership fees plus the premium will sometimes be less then trying to get insurance individually.

Have you considered just having catastrophic health insurance? You may only see your doctor a few times a year so catastrophic may be the affordable choice. With a large deductible your premium will be fairly lower. Now this is only good for a long term illness or if you have a traumatic emergency like major surgery.

If you dont end up getting any health insurance at all I have found that you could talk to your doctor when you have that once a year visit. Let him know what situation your in, cash payment may reduce the cost of some procedures and maybe help with medications. It cant hurt to ask and some doctors my be accommodating.

Discuss health insurance with friends and family. Their experiences could really help you. Look for the best affordable option, remember some is better then none.
