If you are looking for an outdoor patio set and want a selection other than teak, there are many other materials that can be very functional.  Aluminum outdoor patio sets can enhance your outdoor dining area and you can select from a variety of finishes to compliment your setting.  You can add beautiful fabric patio furniture cushions and have a set that give you the same comfort outdoors that you would have with indoor living room furniture.   Aluminum sets can vary greatly in quality and you can find them in affordable patio furniture sets to high end patio furniture sets.  The lower end sets will not have a long of a warranty and most likely will need to be replaced much sooner.

Another option would be a natural or synthetic material such as wicker or resin.  They both are great options for casual patio furniture sets and resin can be easily cleaned with a wet cloth or hose.  They are also mildew resistant so they are a great alternative in moist or humid climates.  With wicker it can be painted with a primer coat and then a finishing coat and it can be custom finished to fit the style of your outdoor patio furnishings.

A well made material that will allow your furniture to  last through many years is wrought iron.  It can handle many types of outdoor conditions and is easily cleaned with soap and water and a mild scrub brush.  Be sure that your finish is powder coated so that it inhibits rust and will allow it to last through the years.

Cheap furniture is often made out of plastic.  It is very easy to clean and is very low cost.  The down side of plastic is that it won’t last long and you will have to replace it within a couple of years.

These are some logical alternatives to teak, although if you are looking for a perfect material for a wooden patio furniture set, teak would be highly recommended.  It is not affected by the weather elements and it is resistant to rotting.  It can be left outside all year long and as it weathersScience Articles, the finish will actually change to a desirable silver tone wood.
